The Illinois State womens tennis team ended the day with a 1-1 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. Illinois State defeated Bradley in their first meet of the day, but then fell to Indiana State University, picking up their first Valley defeat in over a year.
Illinois State swept Bradley in both singles and doubles to pick up their first Valley win by the score of 5-0, and head coach Chris Hoover couldnt have been happier.
Its always good to win against a rival, said Hoover. I was pleased with the way we took care of business. Hopefully we can string some wins together.
Stringing wins together, though, did not happen today. The Birds fell to Indiana State by the score of 4-3, the eighth consecutive win for the Sycamores.
The Redbirds arenow 5-6 overall, and 1-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Illinois State will have plenty of chances to improve their Valley record next weekend, as the Birds go on the road for three straight days of Valley competition, playing Northern Iowa on April 5th, Creighton on April 6th, and then Drake on April 7th.
