Junior Audra Rast fired her way to her third Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week selection and second in a row, after hurling conference wins over Indiana State, 5-1 and Drake, 8-0, 11-1.
The right-hander from Tucson, Ariz., tossed 24 strikeouts in 18 innings of work, throwing a one-hitter and two-hitter in her contests against Drake.
Rast earned her 11th straight win Tuesday shutting out No. 16 DePaul, 3-0 improving her record to 14-2 overall for the Birds. She currently holds a 1.06 ERA, and owns the top spot in both strikeouts per seven innings, averaging 7.33, and most victories among all Valley pitchers.
The Birds will resume Valley play this weekend facing off against Evansville who sits behind Illinois State in Valley play. The Aces hold a 22-17 overall record and are 9-2 in conference play. The first pitch of Saturdays doubleheader is scheduled to take place at noon on Saturday, April 13, at the Redbird Softball Complex.
