Home Match Closes Regular Season for Redbirds

The Illinois State womens tennis team will end regular season play at home this Saturday against Evansville University. Evansville is currently 6-13 for the spring season, and 0-7 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The match will be a homecoming for Evansvilles freshman Jessica Jetton, a graduate of Bloomington High School. Jetton is the school record-holder with 95 singles wins and 72 doubles while playing for Bloomington High. Jetton was also a 3-time all-state selection during her high school career. Illinois State goes into the final weekend of play with an 8-9 record, 4-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Redbirds hope to end the season with a win on their home courts. With Alana Hoffman still out due to a wrist injury, the Birds will have to overcome defaults at both No.3 doubles and No.6 singles to gain the victory. The Birds can find confidence in the fact that despite the defaults, they were able to defeat Wichita State last weekend, 5-2. The Redbirds take to the McCormick Courts for their final match of the regular season at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.
