The Illinois State mens golf team, led by sophomore Brian Anderson, heads to the Huntley, Ill., April 21 for the Illinois Intercollegiate Championship, hosted by Northern Illinois University. The Redbirds enter the competition hoping to create some momentum to carry them to next weeks MVC Championship.
This marks the first time the Birds have competed in the 18-hole Illinois Intercollegiate. The team will look to Anderson, who placed in a tie for fifth at last weeks ASU Indian Classic competition, to continue putting up solid numbers and lead the team. Sophomore Walter Brown, who finished in a tie for 19th last week, should also be a factor in the Redbirds success, as they look ahead to the MVC Championship.
The other teams competing in the tournament include Augustana College, Bradley University, Northern Illinois University, Rock Valley College, and Southern Illinois University.
The two-round competition is set to take place at Whisper Creek Golf Club on Monday, April 22, with a practice round on Sunday April 21.
