Despite the injury defaults and the cold weather, the Illinois State womens tennis team found a win against conference rival Evansville University, 5-2.
Repeating last weekends performance against Wichita, the Redbirds won all but one of the singles matches played.
In doubles, Illinois State won both matches played to gain the doubles point despite the default at the number three position.
The Redbirds were scheduled to end the regular season hosting Southern Illinois at the McCormick Courts, but Southern does not have enough eligible players and has taken a default. This win by default for the Redbirds gives them a final spring record of 10-9 going into the Missouri Valley Conference tournament, which will take place April 26-28 at the McCormick Courts.
The team hopes that the momentum of ending the season on a three match winning streak will help their performance at the MVC tournament.
Its always a plus going into the conference tournament with a win, especially a conference win said Redbird Shelby Lipson, It gives you confidence.
