Zhubi Steps Up To 33rd After First Round

Sophmore Albiona Zhubi of the Illinois State womens golf team shot low scores of 80 and 81 after 36 holes at the Indiana Invitational on Saturday. Illinois State shot a 671 after two rounds the first day of the tournament placing them in the number 15th spot. Host Indiana University is in first place, followed by University of Illinois (2nd), University of Michigan (3rd), Kent State (4th), Michigan State (5th), and University of Wisconsin (6th). Redbird golfers that highlighted the tournament are Zhubi in 33rd place with a score of 161, Jill Rachford in 48th place with a score of 164, Sara Prack in 74th place with a score of 171, and Ashlee Johnson in 79th place with a score of 175. Coach Ray Kralis noted that the team had some really good rounds, however the scores are misleading. The team shot well on the fairways, but had some troubles on the green," Kralis said. "After the tournament was over the team wanted to stay and practice their putts. The third round of play at the Indiana University Golf Course is set for Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
