After two wins against both Missouri Valley Conference rivals Northern Iowa and Creighton, Illinois State fell to Drake, 4-3, in their final match of the weekend.
In singles, the points were split. Both Illinois States Liina Suurvarik and Laura Gravino claimed victory over their opponents to remain undefeated for the weekend.
Suurvarik now holds a 0.93 winning percentage for the spring season with a 14-1 record, and is currently ranked No.80 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Illinois States Shelby Lipson, at No.6, also won her match, defeating Drakes Traci Hogan, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
In doubles, only Illinois States duo of Liina Suurvarik and Alesia Mikalayeva was able to find a win. Drake, therefore, took the doubles point and the win.
The Redbirds only have two days off before traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on Purdue University at 1 p.m. this Wednesday, April 10th.
