Women's Tennis To Take on No.47 Purdue

The Illinois State womens tennis team will travel to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on No. 47 Purdue on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The Boilermakers are currently 6-9 for the spring season, and 3-3 in the Big Ten. In singles, Purdues Melissa Iqbal is nationally ranked No. 122 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In doubles, the ITA nationally ranks Purdues team of Elizabeth Wright and Gretchen Haynor No. 54. Illinois State, currently 7-7 for the spring season, also has its share of players in the rankings. Redbird Liina Suurvarik is nationally ranked No. 80 in singles, and No.23 in doubles with partner Alesia Mikalayeva. No doubt the competition will be tough. The Birds will have to be at their best for the match. In last years face-off, the Birds were able to defeat Purdue 4-3, despite losing the doubles point.
