Evansville pitcher Katie Markle fired a four-hit shutout to beat Creighton for the second time in as many days and advance the Aces into the championship game of the Missouri Valley Conference Softball Tournament for the first time. The 2-0 Evansville victory kept Creighton, 28-28, from reaching the title game for the third straight year--all against Illinois State.
Markle got all the runs she needed in the third inning. Joni Woods drove home the first run with a ground out and Nicole Chatman followed with a double down the left-field line to bring home the second and that was all Markle needed as she struck out six and walked three.
