Goldie Improves Placement, Still Leads Bird Golfers

Senior Adam Goldie currently sits in a tie for 22nd following the second day of NCAA Regional golf action in Albuquerque, NM. Goldie (73-73) improved his overall standing from round one, moving up five spots in the individual standings. He leads the Redbird squad, which is currently holding 22nd place (301-306), after the first two rounds of play. Senior Nic Baker (78-76) also considerably improved his individual placement after shooting a 76 on the day. He moved up eight spots to a tie for 97th, from a tie for 105th. Sophomore Brian Anderson (77-78), senior B.J. Brown (76-79), and freshman Kyle Vasel (75-80) all finished the day placed in a tie for 105th. As a team the Birds dropped five places from 17th and currently sit at 22nd out of 27 teams, with a two round score of 607. Ricky Barnes (70-67), hailing from the University of Arizona, currently holds the individual first place spot after shooting a 67 on the day. In team standings for the tournament the University of Nevada-Las Vegas sits in first with a two round score of 582, followed by Fresno State University with 583. In third with 584 is the University of Washington, followed by the University of Arizona and San Diego State University in a tie for fourth with 585 each. Regional golf action resumes tomorrow at The Championship Course with the final round of the tournament to decide which ten teams will advance.
