Taylor Casement has signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career as a member of the Illinois State soccer team.
A Mississauga, Ontario native, Casement played on the Ontario National Team from 1999-2001 as both a midfielder and defender. She played club soccer for the Burlington Flames at center midfielder. The Flames were the 2001 Ontario Cup Indoor Champions and the OYSL Provincial League and League Cup Champions in 1999 and 2000.
At Cawthra Park Secondary, Casement was a multi-sport athlete who participated in volleyball, basketball, cross country and swimming. Aside from her accomplishments in soccer, she was also a 2001 Provincial finalist in cross country and swimming. In addition, Casement was named the 1999 and 2000 Junior Female Athlete of the Year as well as the MVP for those years on the volleyball team.
Head soccer coach Pete Kowall is excited to add Casement to the Redbird squad as a center and defensive midfielder.
Taylor has talent in multiple sports and is a hard worker, said Kowall. She will bring with her a lot of experience from the exceptional club team she played on.
