Berry Signs With Redbird Gymnastics

Andrea Berry, a native of Omaha, Neb., has signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and gymnastics career at Illinois State University. Berry will graduate from Millard North High School this year, where she was captain of her team. She trains under the supervision of coach Don Houlton at Nebraska Gold Gymnastics. Illinois State head coach Beth Larson is excited for Berry to join the squad and challenge the line-up. Andrea is a very talented student-athlete who is going to bring a tremendous amount of talent and potential to the program. She is espeically strong on vault, bars, and floor exercise, said Larson. We are looking forward to the added depth, especially on vault and bars since those proved to be the two weaker events for us this year. Berry will be joining two other signees for the 2002-2003 Redbird squad. Amy Biedenharn of Edgerton, Ohio and Lauren Strnad, of Washington, Mo., signed in the early signing period. We have some incredible recruits coming in who look to not only help fill the void of the seniors we lost, but will also challenge many other spots in the line-up, said Larson.
