No. 2 Creighton Defeats No. 5 SMS at MVC Tourney

Junior Nicole Garber hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to help lead the No. 2 seed Creighton Bluejays past the No. 6 seeded Bears of Southwest Missouri State 3-2 in game two of the 2002 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Normal, Ill. Creighton advances to the second round to play the winner of the Southern Illinois-Evansville matchup at 3 p.m. Friday, while SMS faces Illinois State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
