Redbird Womens Golf Signs a British Columbia Native

Samantha Richdale, a native of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, has signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and golf career at Illinois State University. Richdale graduated from Kelowna Secondary School this spring and is interested in pursuing a chemistry degree while at Illinois State. She brings with her a current golf index of 1.8 and a string of successful experiences at both the national and international levels. Richdale finished 8th in the 2001 Canadian Junior Ladies Championship by shooting rounds of 74-79-78, and finished in the top-20 in 2000. She finished second at the British Columbia Provincial Junior Ladies Championship in 2001 with scores of 71-77-76 and in 2000 with scores of 74-70-73. Her international success includes qualifying for the championship flight at the 2001 Womens Western Junior Championship and was a first alternate for the 2001 United States Junior World Tournament. Ray Kralis, ISU head womens golf coach, is excited to add this kind of talent to his team. Samantha Richdale has unlimited potential, Kralis said. She is a proven performer at the highest levels, and her competitive background should make for a smooth transition to Division I golf. I look for her to have an immediate impact on our program. Richdale joins Ashlie Rose of Martinsville, Ind., who signed in the early signing period, as the two Redbird newcomers to the womens golf team.
