Senior mens basketball player Tarise Bryson was injured in a car accident early Monday morning, June 17, fracturing two bones in his neck.
Bryson is still hospitalized and will have to wear a neck brace for the next 6-8 weeks. Head coach Tom Richardson is hopeful he will be released by Wednesday.
Of course we are thankful that he is ok, Richardson said. It certainly could have been worse. Tarise has unfortunately had a rough year and this adds to that so hopefully we will get good news in the future.
Bryson is still waiting to hear from the NCAA Reinstatement Committee regarding its decision on his sixth-year. He suffered a season-ending injury in the opening game of the 2001-02 season and the NCAA allows student-athletes a five-year period to complete their four years of eligibility.
