Amid the hot temperatures, head football coach Denver Johnson tried to bring some cool thoughts to the Illinois State campus, Tuesday, with the hiring of RaShan Frost to his staff.
Frost spent the last six years at Auburn as a player, volunteer student assistant and an administrative assistant. He will join the Redbird staff on July 1 and will assist assistant coach Chris Patton with the defensive line.
RaShan brings a solid background of eight-man pressure defense and experience on the defensive line, Johnson said. He is a highly intelligent guy with a bright future. We are really excited about adding him to our staff.
After his playing career with the Tigers, Frost coached for both the 2001 Citrus and Peach Bowl teams. He served as a coaching assistant to the defensive line coaches, while aiding them in the grading and evaluation of player performance.

Frost played for the Tigers from 1996-99, as a defensive lineman, earning a letter his senior season. During that time, the Tigers won the Independence Bowl in 1996 and the Peach Bowl in 1998.
In his six years with Auburn, the Tigers claimed three Southeastern Conference Western Division championships.
A two-time Academic All-SEC selection, Frost earned his bachelors degree in Education-Exercise Science in 2000. In 2001, he received his masters in education, also from Auburn. He was also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society.
A native of Fort Washington, Md., Frost was named a 1995 Maryland High School Scholar-Athlete for football. Later that year, he won the state indoor track and field shot put championship for class 3A.
Frost and his wife, Keisha, will reside in Bloomington.
