Junior second baseman Jon Peacock of Illinois State has been chosen to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region Team.
By vote of the regions baseball coaches, Peacock was a second-team selection. Coaches elected two teams with 15 players each.
The 2002 Missouri Valley Conference batting champion with a .406 average, Peacock also led the Redbirds in hits (76), home runs (9), runs batted in (48) and slugging percentage (.652). The Roselle, Ill., natives batting average ranks No. 7 in Redbird single-season history.
Peacock, a 2002 Second-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference choice, was joined by 10 other Valley players among the 30 elected, including John Tetuan, Brian Burgamy, Drew Moffitt and Dustin Hawkins of Wichita State, Steve Obenchain and Andy Rohleder of Evansville, Brad Ziegler and Dante Brinkley of Southwest Missouri State, Jason Simon and Travis Welsch of Northern Iowa.
The ABCA All-America ballot included all first-team selections from the ABCAs eight regions. Tetuan, Obenchain and Burgamy were among the eight players from the Midwest Region to earn All-America honors.
