Mark Walcott, a former track and field athlete at Illinois State, has been named the Assistant Director of Instructional Technology at the Karin L. Bone Study Center by Assistant Athletic Director of Academics and Life Skills Jane Fulton.
The Mississauga, Ontario natives primary responsibilities will include monitoring the study centers computer lab, handling all software and hardware, managing the distribution of the departments 18 laptop computers and targeting.
As a former student-athlete at Illinois State, Mark is already a role model for our current student-athletes and will be a valuable addition to our department, said Fulton. His expertise in computers will make our department not only more efficient, but also advance us in our technology.
Walcott, who owns a bachelors degree in telecommunications management from Illinois State, was a sprinter on the Redbird track and field team from 1998-2002. During the outdoor season in 2000, Walcott was named to the Missouri Valley All-Conference Team for his third place finish in the 200-meter dash at the MVC Outdoor Championships. He was named a team captain the following season.
This position gives me an opportunity to give back to a university that has already given me so much, said Walcott. It also gives me a chance to further enhance my skills in an environment where I will be able to continue to interact with student-athletes. This will be an excellent foundation for my career.
