Illinois State head volleyball coach Sharon Dingman and two former area players will speak at the Redbird volleyball First Serve Luncheon, Aug. 30 at the Radisson Hotel, as the Birds prepare for another grueling season which includes a home match against defending national champion Stanford.
Special guests will include Jennifer Anderson, an Olympia High School graduate and current Florida State setter, and Heidi Kuethe, a former University High School star and current Marshall outside hitter.
The First Serve Luncheon corresponds with the season opener, the Barker GMC Classic which begins at 5 p.m. the same day at Redbird Arena. Redbird coach Dingman favored moving the luncheon to Aug. 30 so fans can hear from Anderson and Kuethe as well as Redbird players Jenny Kabbes and Erin Jones.
With the great area players back to play in the Barker GMC Classic, we thought it would be an excellent opportunity for fans to welcome them back, Dingman said. I know volleyball fans will enjoy hearing from our players as well as from Jen and Heidi.
The cost of the event is $10 per person and will run from 12-1 p.m. Advanced ticket purchases are required and can be made by calling The Redbird Club (309.438.3803). All ticket sales will conclude on Aug. 23.
