After a scoreless first half Annie Wayland scored two goals in the second half to lead Illinois State to a 2-2 exhibition game tie against Windy City Pride, Tuesday night.
In their second and final exhibition game, the Redbirds used the competitive club team to prepare for the upcoming season.
It was a very physical game against a good club team, and it was a great opportunity to continue to evaluate and prepare our players for the upcoming season, assistant coach Pete Cuadrado said, standing in for head coach Pete Kowall, who was unavailable for comment. We played people at different positions and everyone gained some competitive experience.
The Redbirds will host their 2002 home opener against Eastern Illinois at Adelaide Street Field this Friday, August 30 at 4 p.m.
