The Illinois State softball team will be playing an intrasquad scrimmage on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m. at the Redbird Softball Complex on Adelaide Street.
Head coach
Melinda Fischer is anxious to get her team on the field and in a game-type situation.
This will be our first chance to get a look at the new players in combination with the returning players. We also want to try out some new situations from an offensive and defensive standpoint, said Fischer. I think we have some versatility this season and it will give us a chance to see different players at some different positions. The scrimmage will put the players into a game situation and aquaint the team with pre-game activities.
The Redbirds will be hosting the Illinois State Fall Classic next weekend, Sept. 7-8, and competing teams include Indiana State, Illinois Central College and St. Xavier.
