The Illinois State softball team will compete in the Hawkeye Classic on Sunday, September 22 at Pearl Field on University of Iowas campus in Iowa City.
Although the tournament runs Friday, September 20 through Sunday, September 22, the Redbirds will only be playing on Sunday. Illinois State takes on Utah State at 10:30 a.m., followed by in-state rival Northern Illinois at 12:30 p.m. The Redbirds will take a short break before facing Big Ten foe, Iowa at 4:30 p.m.
The Redbirds will continue to use their fall schedule to evaluate players at different positions, as well as gain valuable playing experience in preparation for their championship season in the spring.
Illinois State has had a successful fall schedule thus far, winning all of its games in the Redbird Fall Classic and earning three wins at the Chicagoland Fall Classic last weekend.
