Birds Head to Kansas for Mens Golf Tourney

The Illinois State University mens golf team will compete at the Kansas Invitational in Lawrence, Kan., Sept. 23-24. The event will be hosted by the University of Kansas and will be held at the Alvamar Golf Club. Both days of competition begin with an 8 a.m. shot-gun start, 36 holes will be played on Monday with the final 18 being held on Tuesday. The 2000 Kansas Invitational (the 2001 the tourney was put on hiatus) saw its host Kansas take the team title beating second place finisher Missouri by 31 strokes with a score of 861. Gibb Marten of Texas-San Antonio took home medalist honors that year with a three round total of 210. Participating schools include Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, University of Missouri - Kansas City, Nebraska, North Texas, Notre Dame, Oral Roberts, and Valley foes Drake, Northern Iowa, Southwest Missouri State and Wichita State.
