WJBC Assistant Sports Director and Sports Talk show host Tim Fisher is a gymnastic fan, and he will join Illinois State coach Beth Larson, her team and other gymnastics fans at the second annual Meet the Redbirds Gymnastics Team spaghetti dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the North Gym at Horton Field House.
Ive had several friends involved in gymnastics, said Fisher. Im a fan of gymnastics and a big fan of Beth Larson, who was a great gymnast herself at ISU and took the team to an NCAA Regional in her first year as head coach.
Fisher will co-host the event, conducting on-air interviews with head coach Larson, her gymnasts and fans on hand for the fundraising event, which is open to the public with $10 tickets for adults and $7 for kids age 12 and under. Dinner will be catered by Avantis and includes spaghetti, the restaurants famous bread, beverages and homemade desserts.
The team does not begin competing for a third straight NCAA Regional bid until January, but practices are underway and Larson enjoys having the chance for her athletes to interact with community members and fans. She appreciates Fisher taking the time to join the group.
We appreciate the support we get from people like Tim and WJBC, said Larson. This dinner promises to be a lot of fun for all of us.
Fisher, a Bloomington native, is one of WJBCs busiest on-air personalities. In addition to his evening sports talk show, he also is the stations imaging director, co-hosts both the Sharon Dingman and Jenny Yopp radio shows and serves as network studio host for all Illinois State football and mens basketball broadcasts. He enjoys a variety of sports, including Redbird gymnastics.
This is a great opportunity to be a part of a successful program that figures to have another great season, said Fisher. We hope plenty of people will come out and join us.
