Sheila Bryant, a junior midfielder for the Illinois State womens soccer team, suffered an injury in Thursdays 4-0 win over Loyola-Chicago that will prevent her from finishing out the 2002 season.
X-rays indicated the injury to be a fracture in Bryants right tibia, which was sustained at the 57:09 mark as a result of a collision with a Loyola player. Bryant will be in a cast for eight to twelve weeks.
Bryant, a native of St. Louis, Mo., had played in all seven games of the 2002 season and recorded seven shots, two on goal. Her career stats for two and a half seasons total 43 games played with starts in 33. She has recorded 28 shots, two goals and one assist for a total of five points.
The undefeated Redbirds (7-0) return to action as they host Iowa on Sunday, September 29, at 12 p.m. at Adelaide Street Field.
