Head coach Pete Kowall and the Redbird soccer team are headed to Northern Illinois University to take on the Huskies, Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Huskie Soccer Field.
Illinois State won the last meeting 5-0 at Adelaide Street Feild on September 2, 2002.
This match-up will be Illinois States second game of the 2002 campaign, and their first regaular season game on the road. The Redbirds won their home opener last week over Eastern Illinois, 2-1. Nine days have passed since the Redbirds played competitively and Kowall is anxious to get his team back on the playing field.
Northern Illinois is a great in-state rival for us. We recruit a lot of the same players, said Kowall. It is always fun to play the Huskies because many of the players know each other, and Northern Illinois has a good coaching staff.
This is another opportunity to evaluate the team, and hopefully we will be able to put two halves together again, Kowall added.
The Redbirds have an overall record of 1-0.
