The Illinois State swimming and diving team wrapped up its trip to Florida with a sixth place finish at the Florida Atlantic Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla., Friday.
Freshman Monique Witkowski had another successful outing with an eighth place finish in the 50 yard free with a time of 25.79. Witkowski also finished in fifth place overall in the 50-meter free on Tuesday, December 31, with a time of 29:08 at the Ed Kennedy Invite in Fort Lauderdale.
The Redbird divers had some nice performances in both the 1 and 3-meter competitions. Krystal Featherston won the 3-meter dive with a final score of 259.80, while Kate Johnson (202.90), Alison Kouba (194.60) and Emily Hirt (188.25) finished fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively. In 1-meter competition, Featherston grabbed third place with a score of 196.10.
Seven schools participated in the Florida Atlantic Invitational, including Washington, Pennsylvania, Oakland, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Transylvania and host Florida Atlantic.
The Redbirds return home for their final home meet of the season on Friday, January 17, against Illinois-Chicago. The start time for the meet is 6 p.m. at Horton Pool.
