Boomer Grigsby added another honor to his long list of accolades for the 2002 football season on Wednesday when the College Sporting News/I-AA.org named the linebacker from Canton, Ill., to its
All-Star team.
This is the first year for a selection of a College Sporting News All-Star team and it differs from an all-American team in that there is no voting involved. The College Sporting News/I-AA.org takes complete responsibility for the picks.
Grigsby was also named a first team all-American by The Sports Network and second team selection by the Associated Press. He was one of eight players from the Gateway Football Conference to be named to the all-star squad.
The nations leading tackler, Grigsby compiled a league-high 179 tackles on the year and finished with 108 solo stops, 16 tackles for loss and four sacks. As a sophomore, he was named the leagues Defensive Player of the Year in 2002 and was a first team all-conference selection.
