Ben Pettinari and Djordje Uskokovic will represent the Illinois State mens tennis team in the third round of the Icy Hot ITA/ All-American, in Chattanooga, Tenn., as they swept through the first two rounds of the doubles competition Saturday to earn a bid for the final day of the tournament.
Playing in the first quarter of the doubles draw, Pettinari and Uskokovic were solid all day, as they took their first match against Fernando Fieri and Federico Ochoa of East Tennessee State 8-3. Their second match of the day would prove to be a tighter match, but the Redbird duo eventually overcame Santa Claras Gernot Fischer and Taylor Bedilion, 8-6.
Winning is nothing new to this Redbird tandem, as they were honored as they went 15-8 last year and were named the No. 1 doubles team for the Missouri Valley Conference.
Pettinari and Uskokovic will face Bastian Faisst and Sebastian Falk of Arkansas-Little Rock in third round action, Sunday, at 12 p.m., at the Champions Club, in Chatanooga, Tenn.
