Liina Suurvarik leads the way for the Illinois State womens tennis team, picking up two singles victories one day after becoming the all-time leader in career doubles wins for the Redbirds.
Suurvarik started the day downing DePauls Gergana Ganeva in straight sets 7-6, 6-3. She then took on Western Michigans Frederika Girsang, ousting her 7-6(5), 1-6, 1-0(9). Suurvarik currently has 13 singles victories this season and 111 career singles victories.
The freshman Katri Miller was the only other Bird to pick up a win as she dropped Marina Parashkevova 6-4, 6-4. Miller breezed through her second match over Western Michigans Reedhina Parekh 6-2, 6-3.
The Redbirds will wrap up the Western Michigan Invitational Sunday at the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo, Mich.
