Redbirds Open Exhibition Season Against EA Sports

Head coach Porter Moser and the Illinois State mens basketball team will take another step Monday in beginning the 2003-04 campaign as the Redbirds host the EA Sports All-Stars in the first of two exhibition games at Redbird Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Moser will be watching how the Redbirds apply what they have learned in practice to an actual game situation. We are looking to see how much we carry over from our practice sessions, Moser said. Weve had 20 practices and have implemented a lot of different things. There is nothing like a game us against them. The first-year Redbird coach is looking forward to playing against another team. Weve had us against us for three weeks now and Im looking for the kind of attitude that comes when it is us against them, Moser added. Weve been promoting a strength in numbers and togetherness and Im looking forward to seeing this philosophy in action in terms of competing and executing. The All-Stars own a 1-4 record after suffering a 103-81 loss at Wisconsin on Saturday night. The Birds are the seventh stop of the All-Stars 13-game collegiate tour. Former Wake Forest guard Robert OKelley leads the squad in scoring with 16.2 points per game.
