All the hard work put in by the Redbird swimming and diving team will finally pay off when it travels to Ohio for the Akron Invitational, December 4-6. Both teams have been looking forward to and preparing for the Invitational since the beginning of the season, and head coach
Steve Paska believes it will be a competitive venture.
This year will be, by far, the fastest Akron meet weve competed in, said Paska. But if theres one thing Ive admired about this team from the beginning, its their focus and drive to practice hard. Everyone has done exceptionally well this season with the strength and conditioning part of practice. This is a hard working bunch, they prepare each day and I believe that work ethic will produce results for this group.
Diving coach Carly Weiden agreed with Paskas opinion, and is looking forward to watching her team compete at Akron.
The girls are very well prepared for this meet, its been our focus all semester long, said Weiden. Thanksgiving break was really good for all of them, and theyve come back ready to work hard and compete.
Other schools competing in the invite are host Akron, Duquesne, Ball State, Clarion, Ohio, Cleveland State, Xavier, Tulane and Hiram.
Swimming and diving action gets underway Thursday at the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium and continues until Saturday.
