Jim Brownlee and his Illinois State baseball staff are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2004 season, but in the meantime, they will be offering a handful of clinics this winter.
On December 22, an offense/defense clinic will be held from 9:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. at Horton Field House on the campus of Illinois State University. The camp will be open for players ages 6-14 and cost $90. It will stress the basic fundamentals of hitting and defense and each participant will be individually evaluated by the Illinois State University baseball staff. The deadline to sign up is December 19.
On December 23, a pitching/catching clinic will be held from 9:00a.m.-1:00p.m. at Horton Field House. This camp will again be open for players ages 6-14 and cost $90. This clinic will stress the basic mechanics and fundamentals of pitching and catching and defense and each participant will be individually evaluated by the Illinois State University baseball staff. The deadline to get registered is December 19.
Session two of Jim Brownlees hitting clinic will begin on January 11 in Horton Field House. The clinic will consist of four sessions and will be conducted on January 11 and 18, as well as February 1 and 8. Each day the clinic will last from 6:00-9:00p.m. and will focus on individual instruction. The clinic is open to all high school players and will cost $80. Participants must be registered by January 8.
The final winter clinic will focus on pitching and will be held at Horton Field House on January 25 from 1:30-6:00p.m. Each participant will be given a written evaluation and will be instructed by top collegiate coaches. All participants will also be video taped, so they must bring a blank VHS cassette to the clinic. This clinic is open to all high school players and will cost $50. The deadline to sign up is January 21.
Participants of all camps will receive a camp t-shirt. With the popularity of these camps, those interested are encouraged to register early to secure a spot.
