Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame Ceremony Set for March 8

The Missouri Valley Conference will be celebrating its past when the 2003 Hall of Fame Ceremony takes place the morning of Saturday, March 8, at the Sheraton St. Louis City Center in St. Louis. The event is part of the 2003 Missouri Valley Conference Mens Basketball Tournament that will be going on simaltaneously, March 7-11, at the Savvis Center downtown. From 8:30-11 a.m. at the Sheraton City Center, five former athletes and coaches will be honored at the event. From Illinois State, Will Robinson, the first African-American Division I basketball coach, will be awarded with the lifetime achievement award while Cathy Boswell, a former Redbird basketball player, will be one of two institutional greats honored at the event. Also being inducted in the Valley Hall of Fame is John Bright (football) from Drake, Lew Hartzog (coach) of Southern Illinois and Bruce Baumgartner (wrestling) of Indiana State. Tickets for the event are $40 each and you can order tickets by calling the Valley office at 314/421-0339 or by visiting the league online at www.mvc.org. The deadline to purchase hall of fame tickets is February 28, 2003.
