After excessive rain caused the Illinois State vs. Alabama softball game to be delayed until Saturday at noon, the Illinois State baseball game versus Western Kentucky scheduled for 3 p.m. today was delayed until tomorrow due to poor field conditions and rain.
The baseball game, which will start Illinois State's 2003 season, will now be played as part of a doubleheader tomorrow, Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ky. The three-game series will conclude Sunday.
At 6 p.m. tonight, the decision was made to continue the softball game between the Redbirds and Alabama on Saturday. Currently, ISU is trailing the Crimson Tide, 3-0, in the top of the fifth. Therefore, the rest of the tournament schedule has been adjusted to finish pool play by tomorrow night. Illinois State's game versus No. 17 Notre Dame is rescheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m., and the Redbirds will face No. 4 California at 7 p.m. The Redbird softball team is participating in the NFCA Lead-off Classic in Columbus, Ga., this weekend.
