'Birds Look to Continue Winning Ways Against Western Michigan

The Illinois State mens tennis team will be going for their third straight victory Saturday against No. 58 Western Michigan, at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Ill. The Redbirds (4-3) hope to fair better against Western Michigan (11-2) than they have against other ranked opponents. The Birds are 0-2 against ranked teams this year after falling to No. 59 Texas Tech and No. 63 New Mexico earlier in the spring season. Coach Greg Kennett feels that his team is better equipped to take on Western Michigan this week than it was two weeks ago against nationally ranked Texas Tech and New Mexico. We have some guys that are gaining a lot of confidence right now, Kennett expressed. Djordje (Uskokovic) has struggled lately, but we are anticipating a big match for him tomorrow. The Birds have been very efficient in doubles competition lately, after not dropping a doubles match to Bradley or DePaul last weekend, and Kennett realizes that the doubles contest will be the key to the match tomorrow. If we can get the doubles point, it will be huge factor if we want to have a chance at winning the match, said Kennett. Play begins tomorrow at 1 p.m. -- ## --
