Megan Hara, Denise Houda, Kristy Kreinbrink, Heather Mohler and Jaime Reineck will put on their leotards at Horton Field House on Monday night for the last time as the Illinois State gymnastics team will honor its seniors and wrap up its home season against Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m.
Monday will be a very exciting evening, commented head coach Beth Larson. We have the opportunity to recognize five seniors who have contributed so much to the program. From the moment these ladies stepped onto the campus, they had a vision to make a mark on Illinois State gymnastics history.
These seniors have brought class, dedication and a competitive edge to Redbird gymnastics, continued Larson. Outside of the gym, they have been Academic All-Americans, participated in leadership conferences and been active role models in the community. The shoes of these fine young ladies are going to be very difficult to fill.
The Redbirds, 5-8, hold the advantage in Mondays meet, having topped SEMO in January. Illinois States balance beam performances led the Redbirds to the win at SEMO as Lisa Klein tied the school record when she posted a 9.95. The Redbirds hope to build off of the previous win to capture Mondays meet.
Looking at our competition on Monday, we have the confidence of winning against SEMO already this season, Larson said. We are going to use that momentum towards solid performances and a win.
