Abbie Scott, a senior on the Illinois State softball team, has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for her efforts over the weekend in the Redbirds 3-0 sweep over Northern Iowa.
Scott, a native of Macomb, Ill., started all three games at right field and pounded a .889 slugging percentage and a .556 batting average for the weekend. Scott went 5-for-9, including three doubles, two runs scored and she drove in two runs. In addition, she recorded a sacrifice and made one putout defensively.
By opening the Valley schedule 3-0, Illinois State improved its overall record to 10-10.
