Illinois State Sweeps Prairie Farms/Valley Scholar-Athlete of the Week Honors

Corey Harris and Ciaran Foley have been selected Prairie Farms/ Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the period of March 10-16. Harris, a senior on the Illinois State softball team, led the Redbirds to three wins over Northern Iowa on March 15 and 16. The Dickinson, Texas, native batted .600 with a double and a two-run homer and improved her pitching record to 5-3 with the 7-6 victory over the Panthers on March 15. Harris has a 3.93 cumulative grade point average in chemistry. A member of the Illinois State mens tennis team, Foley, a senior from Dublin, Ireland, went undefeated at No. 5 singles against the Citadel and the College of Charleston. Foley improved his record to 12-6 by defeating the Citadels Nick Medica, 6-1, 6-2, and the College of Charlestons Arctic Peller, 7-5, 6-2. He is a marketing major with a 3.11 cumulative grade point average. To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.00, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be a least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period. --##--
