Anderson Receives Second Valley Golfer of the Week Honor

Illinois State junior Brian Anderson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the second time after his first-place finish in the Branson Creek Invitational, April 7-8, in Branson, Mo. Anderson, a native of Rochester, Ill., shot a three-round score of 214 (74-68-72), a new career-best. His second-round score of 68 was also the single-round low for the tournament, as well as his single-round career low score. Anderson led the 75-man field in first place for the whole tournament, and birdied three of the last five holes to win the tournament by one stroke. Head coach Harland Kilborn is pleased with Andersons performances, of late, and hopes the junior continues. Its exciting to see Brian playing so well, said Kilborn. Hes starting to get some confidence in himself. This was a big boost for him. He has been waiting a couple years now to get that first college victory under his belt. I hope theres no stopping him now. Anderson previously earned this honor on March 26 for his fourth-place finish at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational. Anderson and the Redbirds return to the course April 14-15 when they travel to Jonesboro, Ark., for the Indian Classic, hosted by Arkansas State.
