The Illinois State mens golf team sits in first place after round one of the Missouri Valley Conference championship tournament, leading the nine-team field by ten strokes.
Sophomore Kyle Vasel holds the first-place individual spot after shooting a 68 in round one. He is just ahead of freshman Kris Wildenradt who carded a 69 on the day to place in a two-man tie for second. Freshman Chris Eddy recorded a 72 to finish in a tie for eighth, while junior Brian Anderson is tied for 14th after shooting a 73. Junior Walter Brown rounds out the five-man squad after carding a 77 to finish in a tie for 28th. Teams play another 18 holes Monday, followed by the final round on Tuesday.
