Bird Golfers Look to Improve in Final Round

The Illinois State womens golf team finished out day one of the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. in 11th place out of 11 teams. With one round remaining in the competition the Redbirds look to improve on their start. Ashlee Johnson and Samantha Richdale each placed in the top 35, with Johnson carding a two round score of 162 (81-81) and finishing the day in a tie at 31st. Richdale turned in a 163 (82-81), good enough for a tie in 34th. Finishing behind Richdale in a tie for 55th place, with a day one score of 170, was Redbird golfer Ashlie Rose (85-85). Albiona Zhubi was the next ISU finisher with a 172 (83-89), putting her in a tie for 60th place overall. Rounding out the competing five for Illinois State was Kaila Fuller, who shot a 174 (85-89), placing her at 64th going into Sundays final 18 holes. In the 6th-man spot Katie Laehn turned in a score of 177 (87-90) to round out the day in 66th place. The lady Redbirds return to golf action Sunday when they play their final 18 holes of the competition.
