The Illinois State womens tennis team remain undefeated in the Valley downing Wichita State, 5-1. The victory puts the Redbirds at 9-7 for the season, and 3-0 in the Valley.
The Birds controlled singles play winning four of the five matches. Liina Suurvarik led the way in the No. 1 position dropping Amanda Cervantes 6-1, 6-4. Alesia Mikalayeva handled the No. 2 spot ousting Ana Exeni, 6-4, 6-4. In the No. 3 spot, Laura Gravino breezed by Natalia Guzman 6-2, 6-2. Emilie Sechaud finished off the day by downing Genevieve Spink 6-2, 6-0. The sixth singles match was not played, as well as the three doubles matches.
The Redbirds start a three meet homestand Friday April 11, when they take on Northern Iowa at 3 p.m. at the McCormick Tennis Courts.
