Former University of Minnesota womens athletics director Chris Voelz, a 1970 Illinois State graduate, will be the keynote speaker at the 2003 Illinois State University Senior Student-Athlete Banquet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 30 in the Bone Student Center Ballroom. The event is sponsored by Illinois States Varsity-I Club.
During the banquet, all Redbird student-athletes completing their eligibility will be recognized and presented with a plaque commemorating their accomplishments at Illinois State.
Voelz participated in volleyball, golf, softball and basketball as a student-athlete at Illinois State and is a member of the Illinois State University Athletics Hall of Fame. In addition to Voelz, other speakers will include Director of Athletics Perk Weisenburger, Varsity-I Club President Rick Percy. Senior softball player Corey Harris and senior football player Aaron Peterson will respond on behalf of their classmates.
The banquet is open to the public. Tickets are $20 each and available by calling The Redbird Club Office at (309) 438-3803. Reservation deadline is 4 p.m., Friday, April 25.
