Illinois State womens tennis head coach Chris Hoover has not ended his year yet. He has added two new recruits, Katri Miller and Matea Simovic, to the Redbird womens tennis team for next season.
Miller, who is from Redbird star Liina Suurvariks hometown of Tallin, Estonia, is ranked No. 3 in Estonia. Miller is expected to come in and make an impact right away for the Redbirds.
We love to have this type of player on our team and we know she comes from a good tennis background, Hoover said. She will be able to come in and play at a high level from day one for this team.
Simovic, an instate talent from Quincy, will try to earn a chance to take a spot in the Birds lineup as Illinois State will have three spots to fill in graduated seniors Shelby Lipson, Alesia Mikalayeva and Alana Hoffman.
Matea is a good strong athlete, Hoover said. If she is given the chance to play every day at a high level, I believe she will be able to excel.
