Liina Suurvarik will represent the Illinois State womens tennis team at the NCAA Singles Championship after being selected Friday, May 2. Singles championship play will begin May 19.
Suurvarik who was just named Prairie Farms/Valley Scholar-Athlete, has had an outstanding season posting a 37-5 record in singles, and an 11-0 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. Suurvarik is just two wins shy of tying the Redbirds single season victory mark of 39, and being atop the career singles victory list with 100 career victories.
Suurvarik will lead the Birds to the NCAA Division Championship Saturday, May 10, at Evanston, Ill., against No. 12 seed Virginia Commonwealth.
