Goy Places Third at German Championships

Former Illinois State track star and NCAA mile champion Christian Goy legged a third-place effort at the German National Championships in the 1,500-meter run. Battling a sore hamstring and discomfort from his wisdom teeth, Goy clocked a time of 3:50.67, which was less than a second behind the winner Franek Haschke (3:49.97). Marc-Andr Kowalinski placed second with a time of 3:50.40. It was a good race, but it definitely wasnt my best, Goy said. I dont want to make any excuses about my injury, but Im looking forward to having my wisdom teeth removed next week and preparing for the European Cross Country Championships. Goy will not compete for two weeks after his oral surgery and should be back for competition in mid-August. The former Redbird won his preliminary heat with a time of 3:51.38.
