Be Like a Bird on Meet the Birds Night

Fans can experience the thrill of catching or completing a pass, kicking an extra point and more on the turf during the 2nd annual Redbird Football Meet the Birds Night on Thursday, August 14th at Hancock Stadium. This is a free event where fans of all ages will get the opportunity to participate in interactive games with Redbird players. Meet the Birds Night will be open to the public from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Several different stations with interactive games will be located throughout the stadium, while photo opportunities will be available at the Be a Bird station. For fans who bring their own cameras, Redbird Athletics will provide helmets, pads and jerseys for fans to wear for keepsake snapshots. Quarterback Challenge, Extra Point and Down & Out are just a few of the football skill games that you can participate in. Quarterback Challenge tests your passing accuracy by throwing to Redbird receivers. In Extra Point, fans try to kick the ball between the uprights. Down & Out will require fighting through Redbird defenders to leap for a pass from a quarterback. This is a great opportunity for us as players to meet the fans and get them as excited about the upcoming season as we are, said junior captain Boomer Grigsby. Nothing would get me more excited than to see a field of kids of all ages come out for this fun event. Short of being a Redbird football player, this is a fans chance to make the plays, meet the team and have a fun night at Hancock Stadium. Access to the field will be available through the east, northwest and southwest gates of the stadium. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, a meet and greet autograph session with the players will be held inside Horton Field House. For more information on this free event, please contact the Redbird Athletics Department at 309/438-8000.
