Redbird Soccer Falls to Northwestern in Exhibition

Illinois States womens soccer team fell to the Northwestern Wildcats 3-1 on Saturday morning in its first exhibition game of the 2003 campaign. We played well in spurts despite the heat, head coach Pete Kowall said. But at the end there we pushed forward and they countered and scored on us. The Birds managed only one goal when freshman Crystal Lanski scored on an assist from Michelle Brumbaugh and Katie Long. Today we saw a lot of good things and we found out some things that we need to work on, Kowall said. Its still a work in progress. Due to injuries, the team was without returning All-Valley Second Team pick Robyn Brady, freshman Geneva Baran and junior Lauren Kahlenbeck. Next up for Illinois State is Busch Soccer Club at Adelaide Street Field at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 20.
