The voice of Redbird Football for the 2003 season will be a familiar one to sports fans in the Twin Cities, with veteran sports broadcaster and WJBC news anchor Greg Halbleib filling the role. When Redbird Basketball rolls into their 2003-2004 season, listeners will also recognize a familiar voice behind the microphone as former WJBC Sports Director and Illinois State play-by-play host Dick Luedke returns to his play-by-play role for this season on WJBC.
Halbleib has been with WJBC since June of 2002. Prior to that, he had worked for more than 20 years as the award-winning news and sports director at WZOE in Princeton, Illinois. Halbleib has been the television play-by-play man for the Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Championship on Fox Sports Net for the past decade.
Luedke returns to WJBC following a five-year retirement from broadcasting, leaving WJBC in 1998 to pursue a career in Public Affairs with State Farm Insurance Companies. Luedke served as WJBC Sports Director for 17 years, winning numerous awards from the
Associated Press and other news associations.
